Though I rarely find it necessary to elevate my quads to work on them, when I do I normally use whatever is on hand, such as a milk crate or even jackstands with a small piece of cardboard over the tips to prevent scratching finishes. I just couldnt justify spending what they get for those 'stands' when I can use just about ANYTHING else. When I'm in the field, I use my riding/tool box, to which I've attached a piece of 1/2" plywood on top.

Have fun!

Getting a machine in the air is essential when you have a back like mine. I made a platform that fits on the saddle of my garage jack. once the machine is in the air, I use tie downs from each corner of the machine down to the jack to steady it. Once it's tied down I can even roll it around the shop.

An ATV jack at home and a heavy plastic toolbox I got at Wally-world for at the track. The cool thing is it looks like an ATV stand.
