Dude, I wouldn't worry too much about it. I am a big, old fart compared to you guys. I'm 30 and I weigh about 270. I have gone pretty big on my 2002 300ex and haven't had any problems yet. I have done wheelie drops off of seven foot creek banks with no ill effects. Just ride it.

I've broke bolth of those dinky front motor mounts and cracked my frame by my left side foot peg , i also hear they can crack around where the swingarm pivot bolt goes through.

thanx guys, i thouhgt i heard something about them cracking by the foot peg, like the 400. It would probably take alot of abuse to do that tho. Thanx for your help guys

i've cuaght some huge air on my 300 and i cracked the frame right behind the footpegs on both sides.but you really have to be maxing it out big time, like overjumping 60 foot doubles and landing on flat ground.i landed so hard most of the time that i have bent my handle bars down to the gastank on both sides.
but most people that i know don't ride it as hard as i do.
i race local pro events and i was just testing the machine to see how far i could abuse it before it gave out on me.it really impressed me.

no it didn't really hurt,a couple times my ankels got a little sore when i didn't land it straight. but otherwise it wasn't to bad.but i definately pushed the machine beyond it's limits,by a long shot.

charlie why do you keep asking stupid questions about that 300 when u hate it so much and are trying to sell it? get a real machine so u can keep up with us

I cracked the frame on my 99" 300 in front of the foot peg directly under the shifter. All i was doing was a small jump.

I broke my front shock mount....broke the carrier off the swingarm....and bent it below the engine...that was on a 95...i just bought a 02 the other day....

Well it didnt all happen at once....first i landed on a stump er summin an bent the frame below the engine....well the front shocks were crap from the begginnin maybe 3 foot without bottomin....i dont know why but i went an practiced at a moto x track one day and cracked the shock mount...welded it....well then i was jumping a homemade 30 foot double...well i wasnt sure of it so i hit it at an angle to to see if i could clear it by landing beside the jump...well that sideways landings bent the axle....i realy dont know how i broke the carrier off cuz i've never bottomed the rear shock...i was just ridin and it threw the chain and then i realized it had cracked and so i welded it up...well after weldin the rear end up i bloted up a set of 400ex a arms...and 250r shock...no relocating mount i know a trick of putting them on.....well with that setup i started jumpin big jumps gettin 7-8 feet of air.......never bottomed out......then i traded her in on a new 300ex....

TRX_Thumper

well there aint no trick in puttin the arms on...its puttin the shocks on with no brackets....stock shockmount....

i cracked my frame above my shocks when i was racing, it was were those 2 bars are that support ur shocks from going backwards, if u can make any sence from that im impressed...lol

Alright boys....get your old a arms off...jack up the front of the 4 wheeler....bolt on a lower 400ex a arm to the frame. find a 250r shock and bolt it to the lower a arm. bolt it to the frame( it should fit easily)....ok now bolt the spindle on....now bolt the top a arm to the spindle only...ok now u will notice the top a arm doesnt come close to bolting onto the frame...so put the hubs and wheel back on....remember only do one side of the quad at a time...ok with the wheel bolted on start to let the jack down which compresses the shock...this will move the top a arm towards the frame...when it comes close enough put the bolts on...theres the easy way of compressing a 250r shock 1 inch...will not work with 400ex shocks.

But isnt the geometry all whacked out? The shocks must sit straight up and down, does it handle weird? Check out some of the pictures of 300ex's with 400 suspension and u'll see they have a new bracket to mount the shocks, so it retains the geometry of hte 400ex.

Naw man i tell you whats wrong with these mounts...people make them so far out the shocks are striaght up no angle to them...now does a 400ex look like that? NO...its stiff enough using the stock mount and moving a shock outward makes it stiffer....for all the woods riders 250r and 400ex shocks are to stiff on the 300ex...it aint even funny its so stiff
