Just thought I would pass this along. Just got the October 2004 issue of Dirtwheels. There is an article in there about the TRX450R from honda and FTS new 500cc big bore kit for the TRX450R.

They replaced the stock pressure plate with the $500 Rekluse Z-Start unit. They now say the honda is nearly stall proof. The Z-Start is a centrifugal clutch, which basically engages the clutch when the revs drop to 300rpm above idle. Plus the Rekluse unit allows you to still utilize the clutch lever like normal to build engine revs if necessary.
A complete port and flow job on the head. The full race treatment runs $350 and a standard port and flow job for $150 for trailriding. Installed a 12:1 Wiseco piston w/Cometic Gaskets increasing the bore to 99mm from 94mm, for $250. These mods will still allow the motor to run on pump gas.
FST installed their own billet cam ($250) and a set of four heavy-duty valve springs for $160. For those running the GNCC on the 450R and keeping within the sound requirements, FST uses a WhiteBros. E-2 exhaust system with a quite core insert at $399.
To allow additional air and fuel flow into the 500cc engine, FST utilizes a White Bros. Power Flow air filter mounted in an aluminum Pingry airbox. The stock carburetor is used with a mainjet upgrade from 160 to 200.
Thats about it besides your skid plates, aftermarket shock and so on. Hope this helps out.

one more thing it said about startup.
Onstartup, you can kick the engine over in any gear without pulling the clutch lever in. If the engine is in gear, the quad won't even move forward until the revs increase 300rpm over idle. That's just a small blip of the throttle so you need to pay attention so that the quad does not lurch forward unexpectedly. However, for a race that requires a dead engine start you want to same time and get an immediate launch when the engine fire. Remember this is only with the Rekluse Z-Start unit installed. This is all from the magazine.
