Damn, that seems pretty quick to get rid of the house. Are you moving in w/ the 19 yr old?

No...it's not quick.....it's hard for one person to keep a house when it took two to pay the payments.....I know.....I left my ex with our house because there is no way I could have kept it. He made enough to keep it.......

Selling it and cashing each other out of the house is a good way to split up......everyone gets a little something to start over with....

Glad to hear you are getting some money out of it!!! Good job! That's why it pays to own a house!!! ;)

No doubt!! I've owned my house for about a year and a half, and I already have about $15K in equity!!! The market here in AZ is going crazy. It's good that you and your ex are being civil about the house; she could probably really hose you if she wanted to.

Hope ya don't have any structural problems. Just sold my house and I got em', structural problem that is. Between realtor fees, new roof, structural problem fix and a bunch of other BS the dam home inspector is making me do its costin me $15,000 of my equity to sell the dam thing. Not to mention the emotional hassle as well. Good luck with your sell. I think I just got a very tough inspector who is also a freakin structual engineer.

So your going to sell your house and live where? Dont buy something stupid or price consuming untill you have a place to live, and it's not trashy.

When me and my ex split, I got her to sign the house over to me.
The house was right near a very large casino (Mohegan Sun) and the market was skyrocketing. Lived there three years, did almost nothing to the house sold it and profited 35k after the whole deal was said and done. She got nothing except all the bills which were in her name, and I got a new yfz. Which is now a full mx ride.

That's cool buy a new quad and try to buy another house or condo or something renting sucks. I bought my last house in Vegas for $135k back in 2000 then this last February we sold and moved back to vegas we got $235k for it Vegas used to be a cheap place to live. But when we sold the husband got a new 450R and we were able to put $60k down on our new house. :D

my area is even crazier. Bought my old house for like 600,000 about 5 years later it was 800,000. Then we bought a smaller house in the same area for like 350,000 and now(little over 2 years) its almost over 400,000 and goin.

i got more detailed prices for anyone who cares, bought the first house for 550 and sold it for 750. Second house bought for 325 and is not easily 400,000.

First house we lived in for about 5 or 6 years the second one weve lived in for little over 2.

It's wierd how property values vary around the country. It sounds like it's more on the east coast.

its a rip, its all about location, im 45 min from the city, in 5 min i can go into a free parking building and take a train into new york city or i could drive there in under an hour. Shore is only 2 hours away. Mountain creek is only 45 min away and has some sweet slopes. Vermont is close too.

It's better to pay property tax than rent;) :D

The average 3-4 bedroom house around here is about 500k and up. That is without an acreage or anything like that. A normal sized front and back yard in a neighborhood... that's it. Mediocre salary is like 60k, 90k is pretty common and 120k+ is common for managerial typet jobs. Silicon valley =expensive as hell.

Joes right Kym, its better to pay property taxes than rent;)

We bought our house in 91 and really havent done much but mow the yard and plant a few trees. Until this year, when we remodled the kitchen, family room, dining room, and front bathroom. Recarpeted the rest of the house, put new windows in. The house doubled in value since we bought it, so we took advantage of the low rates, refinanced the 85k we still owed on the original note of 109k. Took 50k and put it back in to the place. Everything in the house is new but the furniture, so its like living in a new home. Best part is my mortgage payment is $900 a month including taxes, intrest and insurance. The neighbors two blocks down are renting for $1300 a month:eek:

Oh, to be a bachelor again.;) A bachelor can live in a "shack" while he fixes it up and then turns a tidy profit. I have a freind that does the same thing as you. Buys a dive, cheap, fixes it up while he lives there, then sells it to a widow looking to downsize. He makes a killin and is living for darn near free.;)

My house is a 2 bedroom, we transformed it into a 3. 2 full but small bathrooms.

1 acre, only about 1/2 is usable. good neighborhood, great schools.

That's some nice security there, home and land paid for.;) :) The property value will only increase, unless you're in the nuke zone of course:o :p

god, dont come to jersey. my house cost $700,000 5 years ago. no idea what its worth now, but other houses popping up are crossing the one million mark. its insane. theres no way, unless i live with my parents, that i could afford to live in nj after college.
