300ex clutch problem

I have a 02 300ex, the clutch seems to be messing up. First thing it does is when you put in gear it lurches forward (just a little bit).Then the clutch does not grab untill the lever is almost all the way out.I have tried to adjust the cable at the lever but nothing seems to help...I think I have the right amount of free play in the lever.. Thanks

I would guess that the cable is too loose. Try tightening it some more and see what happens. I doubt if it is an internal clutch problem.

Does anyone know how to adjust the clutch cable on the motor?

hey the clutch on all 300exs is touchy it engages right at the end mine is the same has been since new and its a 99 . it could be ur clutch basket has grooves which is not letting the plates spred far enough apart if the grooves arent to bad u can file them out if they r deep then u need a new clutch basket and to adjust the bottom loosen the back nut off and tighten the front one up hope this helps:confused:
