View Full Version : New pipe, makes popping noise.

I put a 450r pipe and silencer on my 250x, ill have pics of this soon. Anyway, i run K&N powerfilter and no lid. I still have stock jetting. Need some advice on jetting and how to eliminate the popping, i think its back firing. It only pops when i decelerate. Air/fuel screw setting, and jetting advice is appreciated. Just go up a click on the needle and up a few sizes on main jets or what? Thanks.

if it pops then u should get a bigger jet deffinately

Don't know why you would do that....But sounds like it is running to lean. Change your jets

he probly thinks the 450r pipe is free'er flowing... makes sense to me but i would have tryed to find atleast a pipe made for the 250x...

You guys think im dumb dont you? I put the 450r pipe on it for now until i can get a pipe made for it. It only cost me $20 and did help out alot with power. I know the idea probably sounds dumb but it will do until i save up enough money for an HMF or Sparks. I dont think, i know its free'er flowing. Now i throw up 20ft rooster tails insted of 10. Im only 15 and i was just looking for a cheap way around a $200 exhaust, just like some people put 400ex shocks on their 300, its not made for it...but it is better. thanks anyway:( :o

I had a 1991 Honda 250x and I had an FMF Megamax ll and it didnt even give the bike 1 hp. All it did was make it sound cool. A pipe is purely a waste of money for that bike. If you want more ponies go for more cubes.;)

I think that is pretty smart and a good cheap way for more power!!

Put a larger main jet in it for sure !!
