I just bought my 400ex used in july...was in perfect shape and still is...well i was going to change the oil today...so i got my wrenches and was going to take the OIL TANK drain plug out...i noticed it was very tight...tighter than should be...so i applied just a little more pressure and WHAMMO the whole bottom of the tank shreads and oil pours everywhere...i was in disbelief at what happened, and about to cry...my question is do they make aftermarket oil tanks, because i got to looking at the stock and it is terribly cheap...think as paper..and was wondering how much a new OIL TANKs going to cost me? and comments and help would be appreciated!

thanks for the replies....i got it fixed by taking it to a welding shop and welding it...i didnt think it could be done as thin as it was, but it worked......just a word of advice: dont tighten the oil plug in the tank tight at all..just snug it up

I remember a thread like this one once before. I suggested welding the tank & someone said it would explode.........here is proof that it won't explode when being welded.
