I would like to know if running straight 110 octane will damage my engine in any way. I have a big bore kit with a 12:5 piston and cams.I use to run vp ultimate 4 but it's to much money.

been running 76 leaded 110 for two seasons now with no ill effects i can't see any way of it hurting you in any way

with that compression, running straight 110 is the BEST thing you could do for the motor. I run straight 110 (either VP or CAM II) and have not had any problems at all, and have actually noticed some lower engine temps when running it. When you go that high on the compression on these motors you have to just stick it out and run straight race gas. Anything else and you run the risk of running hot and detonating...

observe his post a little more and you'll notice he's on a z400 with the z's motor being liquid cool he could actually get away with 12:1 compression on pump gas more then likely without any predetonation but the motor will run healthier on race fuel, the z comes stock with 11.5:1 compression i believe, so 12 really isn't that big of a jump compared to air cool machines

isnt leaded fuel like cam 2 bad for engines? like i know you need high octane like 110 for high compression, but is leaded fuel OK?

being stuck here in oklahoma,we are pretty limited on getting some good fuel without paying a arm and a leg.i was thinking about upgrading to a 416 conversion but what is the best fuel to run for everyday riding?

nope, our engines love lead it gives the valvetrain a healthy coating to protect against wear motors that you don't want to use a leaded fuel in are one with catalytic convertors and oxygen sensors

sweet thanks uglymotha im gonna head out and get me some cam 2 to mix with some sunoco 94 and i should have a pretty decent mix...

oh and also, isnt leaded fuel bad for fuel injected vehicles because it can clog up the injectors? i know theyres some reason why my friend doesnt run it in his camaro but i forget why...
and he doesnt have cats so yea... lol

nope no lead in fuel injected motors due to the fact that they have oxygen sensors and it'll gum them up, i'm not sure whether or not it would mess with the fuel injectors but either way you can't do it

Yes, I personally mix leaded 110 with premium unleaded.

Yes you can mix it. I run it that way in my 400 and in my racecar. I have even ran it in my lawnmower when that was all I had and I needed to finish mowing! It won't hurt a thing.
