I know that a 14 tooth sprocket for the 400ex will give you better acceleration, but less top end so what is the "outcome" of smaller/larger rear sprockets. thankyou:devil

when you change the rear if you go bigger you get more torque but less top end and if you go smaller you get more speed but less torque hope this helps you:)

Its just the opposite of the front sprocket. A smaller rear sprocket will give you more top end.

Oh, i got ya \, so if you raised the front, and lowered the back you would go really fast! :D

What about this has anyone tried smaller front and smaller rear, I know they would sort of cancel each other out but I wonder if there would be pluses to this.

i run a 14/36 on my stock motor 400ex, i wanted to go smaller in the rear for better ground clearence but the stock motor didnt have enough power for a 15/36 combo so i dropped down to a 14 in the front and i like it.

I think how it works is , if you go down 1 tooth on your rear, it is about equal to going up 1/2 tooth on your front.

So if that makes sense.... 1 tooth on the rear is equal to 1/2 a tooth on the front.

So I samller front and a smaller rear wouldn't cancel themselfs out, it would only give your 1/2 , ... er.. I think

(maybe its 2 rear teeth = 1/2 of 1 front tooth)

If you add a tooth on the c/s sprocket, it equals to adding three teeth on the back sprocket.
