i realy like the 400ex's and im probley going to sale my 04 300ex to git a 400 but idk if i can live with out the revers but all i git is hondas wat can i do??
i ride trailys and dunes but idk

Either learn to live without reverse or get a Suzuki.You will learn when to get off and push/pull/lift and when you can pull the clutch in and use your foot.Reverse is not a necesity for trail riding or XC racing but it is nice,not having it will make you a better rider.

i tohught the same way when i moved up from my 250x to 400ex and thought id miss it but i dont i dont really need it that much and i can lift my quad so if i do need to turn around i eather whip my back end around or get off and lift but the 400 is defently worth it u wont be sorry at all;)

well if your a good ridder you can spin it arround faster htna what u can put a quad w/ reverse in reverse

i can turn my 400ex arround on a dime pretty much....lock the front brakes up lean foward and turn the wheels and shes turned arround....i can do that faster than what my friend can put his raptor in reverse...


reverse i think shouldnt be needed on sport quads...if your too old or lazy to get off and push a small light quad like that....then you dont need to be on a sport...u need a utility...i can see havin reverse on 1 of those simply because they are heavy

Dude i wouldnt get a 400ex especially if your coming off a 300ex. I have a 400 and its a complete POS, 250ex's can get me till i hit 3rd in a drag. And blasters are alot worse.. Seriously...and the 250ex was stock with bald tires and had a kid that weighed 220. Pretty sad if you ask me. I mean Dirtwheels had a shootout between the 300ex and Raptor 350. So what does that tell you. Id save up and get something with a alot more power cause the 400 is too slow, no power, and is waay outdated. Id get the YFZ450 or TRX450r.

if you read the article i think it said that the 400 stomped the other quads in all the categories

they may be a little slower than the newer quads but they make up for it in reliability, availability of parts, and price

sounds to me like its the rider not the quad! :eek: :eek: I have a 400ex (board out to a 426 now) and its awesome. Either the kid on the 250 was just an awesome rider, or your not shifting during your starts. Keep in mind that the 250ex is an automatic clutch. A 250ex should not be beating a 400ex......to get more power off the line, try starting in 2nd gear, hold it wide open for a couple seconds then hit 3rd and if u have enough straight open, take it to 4th.

the yfzs and 450rs will dominate the 400ex but they are not entirley that outdated. I finished 6th overall for the season in womens bc GNC ( that nationals right there). On my 400 against mainly yfzs.

No offense but either you or your quad have some serious performance issues.

That 250ex is a auto he most of had something really done to that bike.The only auto bike that could beat a 400ex is a V Force and what thats double the cc. Yeah I just sold my 1987 250X and tell you the truth when I had it mostly I put it in reverse for the fun of.I do trail riding and really found myself really not using it.:macho

u must be rding a kawi 400 or osmethin.....j/k:p but there no way a 250ex got u off the line inless u sucks at rding or there something wrong with ur quad i used ot have a 250x and i raced a 250ex a few times and always smoked it form 1 gear ot 5th and now that i got my 400ex i rape 250x's os there no possible way that can be true

Hey guys im the kid that owns the 250ex that beats Crazy400ex's 400. I orginally own a YFZ but on that day i was on the 250. Now i was excited to see my 250 take him off the line consisently until he hit 3rd gear. Alright my 250 is an 02 with totally bald tires and i weigh 212 pounds. Where as Crazy400ex;s weights 120. Believe me guys my 250ex is totally stock and there is now blue smoke coming out of the exhaust like crazy...haha....big pos..but still takes that 400 off the line.
