450R, Yfz, or Pred?

No brand loyalty please. A friend of mine wants to get a new 4 stroke to go with his Shee. This is for his "wife" mmhmm sure. Anyhow, I was just curious what you all think. IMO the Honda is the most comfy and easily comparable to the yfz. i dont like much about the yfz so it's hard to give an unbiased opinion. The Pred is the cheapest and with the 05 improvements should be quite the fun factor. All their riding is in the dunes and barely ever WOT.

I think the DS is a good quad but not one their interested in due to its overall size. Although according to Bombardier the X version is 405lbs, 10lbs lighter than a Pred. Also they arent quite agressive enough.

well if it's for his "wife", id say go w/ the raptor. comfy, reliable, powerful, electric start, reverse.

I would have to move over to the DS650 for this situation. Although it is a little big, it is perfect for the dunes; just throw some paddles on! Also, ask your friend if his wife needs reverse. Some women prefer having a separate gear instead of pushing it.

Sounds like he wants another quad and is using the "it's for my wife" excuse. Get the YFZ or the 450R. Either will be a good choice. You don't need reverse in the dunes. His wife will be on the banshee in no time and he'll be on the 450.

predators are slow. i raced my stock 450R against 3 difrent heavily modded predators and i smoked all of them :D

If it's for the wife and barely going to be ridden at WOT and fun factor is important then why not get a z-400. They made a bunch of improvments on the new models and they are pretty fast once you pipe them.

well from just what ive seen from the predator they dont have my vote. a buddy of mine is on his second one. luckly polaris had a good warranty and gave him a new quad for 1200 bucks because it bit the dust 3 days after the warranty was up. if this quad is really going to his "WIFE" than he should probably go with the YFZ just because of the R being a kick start. but if hes using his wife as an excuse than i think he should go with the R for comfort and i personaly like them better in the dunes ( taller geared ). and if this is really going to his wife and he went with the R i think he will be alright anyways because its a breeze to kick start. i had a girl kick start mine in flip flops just to proove a point to some buddies that have YFZ's. but just tell him to pick the one he really has the best gut feeling for. when it comes down to it that really all you can do.:blah:
