We (me, my man, my mans best friend) went up to Silver Lake for a couple of days. They had gone the weekend before, but this was my first time up there. I LOVED IT!! Everyone up there was so nice (we met the owners of the Badlands, nice guy!). I was sad to go :( The view from our hotel room was giant sand dunes and a big lake - it was unbelievable! But after a bad sunburn, hurt hand, 2 broken flags, broken grab bar, and a bent set of handlebars - we decided to call it a weekend. I hope to go back soon! But here are some pictures from our trip - sorry some of them are crappy but the only place I could find to hold my camera was down my pants :eek2: so it kinda got sand in it and water too. We got some cool video of it but our video camera is from 1912 so I cant put the video up here.

This one is Brian and Clint getting ready to drag race. Brian's on the 450r w/ the white shirt on and Clint is on the Predator.

Me riding up one of the giant sand dunes. The boys had me so worried on the ride up to Silver Lake. "These dunes are 75 times bigger than anything you've ever seen before." I almost made myself sick - I figured I was going to get stuck a million times. But I only got stuck once sooooo close to the top too! The big dunes were my favorite part!

I can't tell who this is water crossing - it's either Brian or Clint. They had quite the audience!

Silver Lake looks like an awesome place to ride. I hope that sometime next year that I will be able to make it up there and ride.

Thanks for sharing the story and photos, and don't pay attention to Guy400:cool: He sometimes forgets this is an ATV Site for all ages:devil:

Miss Black,

75X bigger than anything you've ever seen????

Would you rather try and ride up the back side of Mt. Baldy?? Silver Lake isn't so steep after all is it?

You guys should come out to Glamis tween X-mas and New Years. I've got 6 guys coming from the Region. One is driving out with a 24' Haulmark [he lives @ US20 and I94] and is transporting all the quads . You guys could fly out to Phoenix and hook up with us to Glamis. Don't worry, there is one girl in our riding group already and 400grl lives here too. [I'm trying to get her and her crew to hook up with us this X-mas.
Anyways, you have been officially invited. You would be in charge of Buffalo wings at happy hour!!

And the dunes you will ride here are @ least 4 times the size you have EVER seen in the midwest. 30 miles long and 8 miles wide. It's kind of like Stop 2 on crack!!

I was just back in MC for my class reunion. Didn't get to come to LP like I had wanted, got caught up in the 24hr life of Wicker Park for too many days in Chicago. Anywho, will be in LP for a reception at the Silver Palace around Halloween. Would like to hook-up with you, your man and any of your 4 wheelin friends @ Dick's for cocktails to discuss your trip to the desert southwest!!! -RT

Great pics, when were you there? Or did I miss that part.

If you don't wanna go, then stay:confused: :p

sounds good - let us know when you are in LP. We usually go out for Halloween...but costumed :D

if you are talking about the backside of Mt. Baldy in Chesterton - try having to run up it for soccer practice!! And that was our 'fun day.'

I wish we could have stayed up in Silver Lake - but unfortunately work and school made me come back. Hopefully we will go again very soon.!

Looks like you guys had fun up there Blackraptor.

Here's a quick question for anyone since your talking about silver lake. What would my quad be like up there. It's basically a stock 250 with stock tires. I dont' have the money for paddles right now. (Wife's car broke down) and I can't justify buying some when I'll only use them once a year. I've had some people with 250ex's say that they ran stock tires up there and still had fun.

Just wanted some quick opinions, and yes I know that paddles on a 400ex or bigger are the way to go, but I don't have that:)

Thanks

there was a bunch of quads there with out paddles, as long as you keep up your momentum you will be fine.

as far as night riding goes, they dont allow it.

and yse you can buy a cottage right on the lake.
