will be rebuilding my sons bike this winter(330 Kit), and was wondering about the cdi? is it something that should be changed? it just changes the rpm curve of the engine? and is it neccessary to change? and are there any problems that can arise with a change. curious just want to do it the right way to get the best performance. thanks Bill

yes the box changes the timing curve, it does also create more heat. generally the box does make a difference as far as low end goes. it makes your throttle more responsive,(snappier). it is not necessary to change it though, your bike will run fine with the stock one. you could avoid the cdi box which generally cost $100.00 or so and opt to use a timing advance key which gives the same advance for around $15.00 and keep the same rev limit with the stock cdi. just a thought, i used the key.

no one makes an aftermarket box for a 300, but gthunder can remove the stock rev limiter for about 75 bucks. and yes, if your also doing some kind of higher revving cam, getting rid of th rev limit would be a good idea

I was asking about the advances timing key not a cdi
sorry to tell you but someone here in michigan makes an aftermarket box for a 300ex, they have been talking to me about trying it out for them
