What pipes are passing......And what readings are you getting with what you are using.........I am looking for a new slip-on for my 400ex, and want to male a decision based on performance and sound level.
Are they checking at every race, or is this just a now and again type of thing?

The maximum rating 104db at 3000 rpm, right? My CT pipe ws supposed to be 102db before I lopped 6 inches off of it. I want to run Powerline Park, but was wondering what kind of hassle I'll get with the sound issue. Will they tell me I can't race if it is over 104? Or will they tell me to change something for the next race?

i beleive if you pay silent sport 20 bucks to re-pack your silencer, you will get a sticker and allowed to race no matter what DB you are at

So you can buy your way into the race then........? I miss the good ole' days...:( Either way $20 is cheaper than buying a new pipe, for now.

Stock 450r pipe. Passes, heck at Millfield they refused to even check mine. They just put the sticker on it and said go.

Everyone here is right though the brand really doesn't matter too much. I seen the exact same setup go through and one guy pass and the next didn't. So it comes down what outside noise is around you when they test and if they hit the right rpm.

Do they use a tachometer, to get the proper RPM?

LOL........:p :p ........riiiiggghhhttt........

The whole sound check situation is a joke. Theres no uniformity to it, and theres so many variables the way they do it that its just a waste of everyones time.....

I wanna know why R/P never did sound checks at Lorretta's GNC race. Still and AMA event.

Man they really raked those guys over the coals $$$$ wise. $50.00 to drop your trailer RIP OFF.

Sounds like someone at Silent Sport got some of the action too....... "Just give this guy some business, and we will pass you no matter what." It also sounds like you cound run a TC Racing pipe and still get by that way, and save the Silent Sport guy half the packing!:p
I am surprised that such a large event has such an unrefined process for sound checks. Was there really a sound issue anyway? I've never seen the law show up at a GNCC and tell everyone to quiet it down a little...... :macho .

the 104 dbs has always been an AMA rule, just R/P has never felt the need to inforce it. I have heard rumors the past year or 2 that Spectators have been complaining about the noise along with some neighboring house owners at certain tracks. This will become more of an issue if R/P decides to look at more tracks like Wisp where we are at resorts which could have larger spectator turnouts and the track is in bigger cities instead of out in BFE. I personally think it is a right step and can truely help the sport grow if it is the main reason to help bring in larger crowds and more family friendly like Wisp is. The problem is R/P does not have the trained personal and equipment to do the testing correctly. I have also heard though that in the next couple years R/P will not be envolved in the sound testing portion of the Tech. That AMA maybe bring in their own people that will be trained and able to preform the test properly so the results are more accurate. Also I have heard the the 104 level maybe dropping down to closer or even under 100 over the next few year pending on what the EPA and other organization feel the sound level soon be at national parks and riding areas.

My Power Tech 4 Exhaust from MBRP had a 99db rating at the Penton race.

I am super happy with this pipe. I ran a 4 inch supertrapp last year and it was really loud and it didn't give any better performance then this highly polished stainless steel beauty.

I don't think anyone knows the answer to this yet. It's a guessing game. I was under the impression they were going to do it all year but in the middle of the season we had 5 or so races in a row that it was checked. Your guess is as good as mine.

I wanna know why the GNC events never get tested. They are an AMA/ATVA santioned event.

What's up with that? besides ripping those guys off $50.00 to drop a trailer.
