My 2001 400ex seems like it is loosing power and burning oil so I think this winter i will take it apart and rebuild it. With a 416 JE piston will this bring it back to full power, will i finally be able to keep up with a Z400? thanks

a JE 416 with a stage 2 cam or similar will let you take stock or piped z400 fairly easy.

:p excuse for what?

but anyway..while your heads all torn down, and your getting it bored out with a high compression piston....go ahead and get a cam, valve springs and port it...you already have it torn down, might as well do everythiing at once so you dont have to do it again

i have been riding for too long but everyone i talk to says that the 416 is the way to go and then later upgrade to the 426.

I would agree with dale. I just got a 416 and it woke the bike right up. Also while you have it apart do the cam stage 1 or 2 and get it port and polished a larger carb and a pipe. You will be very happy with the results
