NO

The spring rate and stroke would not even be remotely close.

Did you have any work done on the shocks before you put them on you 400ex. Will a trx450 work. Could you tell the difference between having stock shocks on your 400ex compared to the yfz shocks.

I still dont' see how he did this. Lay a set of YFZ shocks next to a set of stock 400ex shocks. I bet the 400ex shocks are 2 or 3 inches longer so the stroke is way off.

Im not saying they can't mount up but the question i have is about performance.

They are BONE STOCK YFZ 450 shocks, This was the race bike that I used in several Dist. 38 races in So Cal. The only thing that I did to them was widen the shock mount. Same location as the stock mount. My cousin rides a modified 250r, his team mate rides a modified 400ex, my youngest brother rides a modified 400ex, we race each other in the same class and I continuesly get better lap times than they do. I know what your going to say next:::::: your a better rider, more experiance, better fit etc. etc. etc.... I am 26 years of age all three of them are at least 6-7 years younger than I am. We all started riding at a VERY young age. so our experiance is about the same. I work at a computer 5 days a week and go home and work in my shop the rest of the time, SO I DONT EXCERISE at ALL they are in sports and are extremely active!!!! They got me bet at endurance. Here is a link with pics so that you can look for your self. the pics are before the bike was race preped for desert. (mostly stock)

By the way: that bike has won the last 2 races one 66 mile and one 220mile race with no prblems with the stock front end and YFZ shocks......;)

We bought 2x2 4130 Chromoly box tubing and cut one side of it off, rounded it for clearence and cut it to the stock lenght and welded it on. Took about an hour to do the whole process.:)
