This is what happened to my piston after the first week I owned my 400ex. Mind you this is a JE 10.8:1 piston... Also, some of the marks happened trying to retrieve the piston from the cylinder...

Enjoy. :o

I wish I knew. My piston started dragging the sleeve and moving it with the piston. Then it just seized at BDC. My sleeve wore down the cylinder walls so I had to purchase a new cylinder.

Amazingly my piston rod was unharmed!

its a connecting rod not a piston rod ;) j/p

damn doesnt look good, so what were you doing when it happened? it looked like there was someting in the cylinder or the timing was off and the piston finally came apart then seized, geez make sure ya clean the oil there is probably lots of metal down there

Its all been fixed since then. I really don't know EXACTLY what happened in the motor, all I know is it sure wasn't good.

Common if it was bored to 426 with stock sleeve!

Is that picture of the cylinder with the sleeve out? It wonder if the cylinder was bored for a 92mm sleeve maybe that would be clean enough?

Adds horsepower:o . At least that's what I'm going to put in your Blaster head tonight while you are gone...hahaha...that's what you get for leaving it at my house.

Ryan, I feel your pain...seizing your engine SUCKS. Especially when it costs over a grand just to rebuild. Flyin#5...haha your rebuilds always cost $200, but you have to do it every week:p .
