A local retailer has some 22x11x9 ITP Mud Lights. I was wondering if any one with 400/300ex run these tires and do they work well with sporty quads? I do all trail riding and I am looking for something that will give me more ground clearance and better traction. Also winter is coming and I figure they will do good in the snow. I just don’t want to spend a bunch of money on these tires and be disappointed.

they would give you the wanted traction but theres mainly one problem with using mud tires on a sport quad. Puts a lot of stress on the drivetrain because of the added weight/traction, and the quad wont be able to power them as easily as the stockers. Buy a tire thats make for a sport quad, and you will be much happier. Kenda knarly 22", razr 2s, holeshot HD, theres a few out there.

yes i agree....get you a tire designed for a sport quad not a utlility.....those heavy arse tires rob power, and they also cause major stress on bearings...

my friend had a 250x with realtors on it and it tore his bearings outta the assend about every mth...and they just killed his horse power....he had a bored out 250x w/ a cam and a few other performance parts to give it more hp...and if he woulda had some smaller/lighter tires on it....it woulda been pretty nasty...but it felt like ridding a stock 250x w/ a lil more hp

do you self a favor and get you a set of holeshots or a set of razr's holeshot xcr is a good trail tire and so are razr

they'll be fine i run mudsharks and the only thing i really have trouble weith is sliding in the corners with the wide tire.
mud lites will be fine.

I had them on my quad for a long time, They give you excellent traction in anything wet, way better then any holeshot or razr. But its harder to slide, they dont corner as well and they are heavy and will slow you down, I used them in the snow and they were awesome, following me was like following 2 snow blowers.

Hmmm... 25x8-12 Mud Lite is only 15.1lbs and the 22 inch Maxxis Razr 2's are 17.6 and 19.3lbs (depending on rim size). Heck even a 4 ply 22x11.00-9 inch Razor is 16.3lbs.

So unless the 22 inch Mud Lite is heavier than the 25 inch I realy don't see why you all are saying they are heavy.

I lifted some Razr 2's and some mud lites when I was in the store the other day. The Razr 2’s were noticeably heavier.

I ran 22" mud tires on my last quad (300ex) and used to go through axle bearings every 2 weeks to a month.
