I bought some oil for my filter today. I was wondering what a good procedure to clean it would be. I was told to soak it in gas, or blow it out with a air compressor.

Buy the k&n filter maintence kit it comes with tthe cleaner and oil. Don't use gas or air to clean a K&N you will ruin it.

I also agree use K&N filter cleaner and oil. The air would destroy the filter and I dont think soaking it in gas would do it any good at all. The K&N filter cleaner works great and doesnt cost much.

Go smack whoever told you that in the chops. Those 2 things are probably the worst things you can do to a K&N filter...

K&N cleaner seems like a good thing to clean a K&N filter with I think....:o

Whoever told you that is a damned MORON... Those are the exact 2 things it says specifically NOT to use on a K+N! The K+N cleaner and K+N oil are all you should use with that filter as others have already posted...

Detergent works fine and is recomended. Rinse it good. Been doing it for years.
Just buy the K&N oil.
