Ok, last night at work my friend CJ and I were talking about the favorite lead guitarist thread, and I asked him these two questions that I thought I'd share with the rest of the class:

1. Who's the worst band you ever had to suffer through at a concert?

2. What band that you weren't there to see surprised you the most by actually being really good?

My answers- 1. Tie: Firehouse ('nuff said) and Wu- Tang Clan (12 guys rappin all at the same time)
2. The Ramones. I don't like their albums that much but live, they were awesome.

Best: Robert Plant and the Strange Sensations. Ill Nino, Tool, Drowning Pool (w/ Dave Williams)

Worst: Kansas. This was the absolute worst band I have ever seen live. I saw them at a fest so it's not like I paid to see them but damn, they suck!

Best Surprise: Marilyn Manson at Ozzfest '03

Worst Ever: Ozzy at Ozzfest '03...we didn't have to suffer through it though. We left after about 4 songs since he was the last act.

Biggest surprise - Tool at Lollapalooza in 97. I was there to see Korn and Tricky, Korn didn't even play, but Tool just blew me away and I've seen them three times since and am a huge fan. Also Henry Rollins at Woodstock in 94.

Worst - Queens of the Stone Age, they opened at a Smashing Pumkins concert that I went to in 99 and they sucked.

My favorite band in concert has to be a 3-way tie between sammy hagar 3 lock box tour or triumph allied forces tour or any of kansascitys own shooting star all about 20 years ago.

Worst ? I like to rock still at 40:D

I saw Manson at Ozzfest in 03, and I was impressed. I can't say the same thing for Ozzy at the same show though.

Pearl Jam has to be the best live show I've ever seen, Korn and Godsmack get a very close 2nd.

Worst show might have been Skid Row that I happily stayed at the car and drank beer instead of going in to see the show. This is all pure speculation though, since I never made it in to see them, and proceded to pound beers in the parking lot until Van Halen took the stage.

Best concerts -
Any one of the 15 times I have seen Metallica...despite their last few subpar albums, these guys are better than ever live. I do miss Newstead live though :(

Stone Temple Pilots - Small venue (few thousand people) after Weiland came off his first rehab stint, they were TIGHT

Worst - Korn..just so far over bassed and Johnathan Davis's voice was awful.

Most Suprised - Soundgarden Lollapalooza '97 and Linkin Park opening for STP several years ago

Best: chris cagle (haha it was at a NASCAR race but he rocked it), lynyrd skynyrd's 30th anniversiary concert in nashville where they filmed a dvd, tim mcgraw was cool, dave matthews

worst: incubus 2 years ago...like 5 mics failed and the sound sucked...it was inside a colleseum and the bass like reverberated off the walls and the mix totally sucked

Deftones-- by far the worst band I've ever seen live (as far as big name bands go).

Best: Disturbed, Sevendust, Hed PE, earlier Metallica
