Well, while riding at the Horsefall Dunes in Oregon I came across what looked like a 450R with yellow plastics. It turns out that it was a 400ex and Honda was doing a photo shoot. I guess the new EX's are gonna have identical plastics to the 450. The yellow looked pretty good, it's a lot brighter than the old yellow that were on those bikes. Just thought I'd share what I saw, I didn't have a camera so no pictures, sorry.

I agree, allthough I dont think the 450r plastic is ugly... I still think they should have kept the 400ex look... A black 400ex with silver graphics like the 450r would look nice...:blah:

Then again the 400ex rear plastics sag over time, and it would be nice to have detachable fronts and some plastic air scoops..:macho

I am tired of the 250R/400EX plastic look. I'm just not a big fan of 80's looking equipment. The 400EX is pretty much 250R plastic with two round bubble headlights. The new YFZ and 450R styling is a very much welcomed look to the ATV racing scene which has looked the same since the late 80's quad racing took off. I believe the 400EX could use a face lift.:)

Take the headlights off the yfz and you have the most 80's looking quad to date. In white plastics it look's like a 250r, just look at the side profile. It has a very long hood, nothing new there.

please put the crack pipe down the yfz looks nothing like an R the R has rounded flowing lines the YFZ has pointed v shaped styling not a rounded line to be found not to say either is ugly but both couldnt be more different

I just went out and took a look at my 89, and I'm not sure about those rounded lines. I think the 250r and yfz have an amazingly similar cut between the nose piece and the front fender. I think it was pretty intentional on Yamahas part.
