I'm not sure about HMF's boxes but usually aft. air boxes are used to hide all your elec. stuff inside the box so that everything isn't all exposed, for ex. your battery ect.... To me, it looks better and cleaner. For $200, that sounds a little bit pricey! I believe you can get a CFM for $150, maybe less than that?? Shop around!

Don't buy a cheapo off of Ebay... Read this article, make sure you read the update article too.

if the one on ebay is a cheapo, then so it the um one, because their almost identical. it's got the same heavier-duty side mounts, a rear mount.

i have the um airbox on my bike , i like it holds battery and the
aftermarket filters fit in it better than they do in the stock air box.
was a bit of a pain to install though, there was no hole to put the ground wire to and took a little paint cleaning around seat clamp to get a good connection. had to drill my own hole to bolt negative to but works well.
filter also gets dirty faster

Read the linked story. They are not the same, the mounts are welded and the material is thicker. I used the rear mounting bolt for the battery ground.

I bought one of the airboxes from the ebay link a while back. It is not the same one that is in the write up. It seems to be made pretty well and all of the brackets bolt to the airbox, instead of being welded, so if one does bend or break you can just bolt on a new bracket. It does bolt down in the rear, unlike the one in the writeup. The only problem with it is that it is not recessed for the brake caliper so if your quad is lowered and you jump the airbox will hit the caliper.(Actually the brake line coming out of the caliper) I raced a couple TT Races since installing mine and it did hit the brake line, but not enough to damage anything. I dont think it would be a problem for trailriding though, and would recommend it.

That ebay one is a piece of crap because when the shock bottoms out the airbox will hit the caliper...
