checking my oil?

hey i have a 1999 honda 300ex and every morning before i drive it the oil is way down like every tank of gas its low like add it dont leak any thing ive checked it smokes a little when cold but barely n e thing at all o when i check it io check it cold n e one no wethere i warm it up first before i check it? any help would be good:confused:

i dont know about warming it up to check it.... but i know your spose to warm it up before you change it...

I'm pretty sure you should warm it up first before checking your oil. I know if I check my 400's oil cold it is lower than when I let the motor warm up first.

you should always warm it up before checking your oil cuz when the oil get warm it expands. i found this out by checking my oil when it was not warmed up and then checked it when it was warm. so check it when its warm.

Check oil after bike has been warmed up.Adding oil to a cold motor is just asking for an overfill.
