hissing from engine

i have had my 416 for a few months now and i started hearing a hissing kinda sound like when water hits something hot in the engine i have to get next to the engine on the left side to hear it. what do yall think it could be. the piston rings, header leak i dont no.

Did you see any leaks, also check anywhere that air could get in/out. Some times its the small things that aren't that noticeable.

couldnt find any leaks but it still sounds like air or something but its not doing near what it was doing friday

might be a compression leak? :eek2: i dont know dude but you better get that figured out... if you think it might be the exhaust which i doubt it is, it comes out in like puffs so you would be able to tell...

did you get new gaskets? still you may have blown one. try checking your vavles and re-adjusting them. my 416 is doin the same thing.. and im about to get mine adjusted

i am not trying to be smart or anything i dont no alot about engines just tryin to learn but what do the valves have to do with it i had them adjusted about one or two months ago. i think its gotta be the gasket

yes but the valves have to have a small adjustment made with the hotcams stage 2. I did mine when i got the cam. it tells you in the kit., dont know if it was done or not but just a suggestion.

If it is a head gasket and is a compression leak, believe me you will be able to feel it. You say its on the left side... Thats the side that always blew on mine before the stud kit I put in. Get on it with shorts on and mash on the gas with it in neutral. If its the head gasket youll be able to feel air blowing out the side of it. Also, if it is the gasket, look for remnants of oil around the seal that usually blows out. If it isnt the head gasket then I dont know what it is, but I hope you figure it out...
