i got a dirtbike

i went riding at an mx track yesterday on my 400ex and there were alot of dirtbikes and they were all passin by me like i was sittin still. ive been wantin a dirtbike for awhile so i decided to go ahead and get one. i was wantin to stick with honda but i found a rm125 with some hop ups so i traded in for that. i would post a pic but dunno how

u traded a 400ex in for a 125?:huh :grr: why wouldnt u just buy a cheap one for like 1500 and fixed it up?

well i am only 15 man so i dont have a whole lot of money to fix up a bike which is why i traded the 400 in for the 125. and if you think the 125 is slower than the 400 then think again cuz this thing friggin rips. its got a dep pipe and silencer,134cc kit, pro action suspension, tag bars, graphics kit and a few other things

Explain why he sucks. With equal riders one on a quad and one on a bike the bike is going to smoke a quad even though it's a 125.

not really, the 125s and 400ex's are almost about the same price range

I guess it depends what year, is he got a 2002 or older dirtbike yeah he probably did lose some money but if it made him happy i guess he would consider it money well spent so leave him alone.

im seriously thinking about getting a 125 bike myself.. my quad cant handle ANYTHING. after every race i have to fix something because somethings broke or in need of major repair. and i've been riding dirtbikes longer than quads, but i wanted to give quads a chance.. but now im thinking about getting a 125 and a utility quad and selling the 330. i personally think you did get jipped just a bit on the trade, but hey, not everythign is about money, its about the fun factor. so good luck man

What year bike did you get? Give us more information. The only thing a 134 kit means is that you cant legally compete in a 125 class now!!

Everytime i get rough on my 400ex, she needs repairs:mad: :mad: .. my 00 cr250 went through alot. and when it did need repairs, it was a small thing.. up until the top end, which i should have replaced "before" it blew up.

a rm 125 (134) would smoke a 400ex if they had equal riders
good luck on it i bet its real nice...i rode a yz 80 and those are pretty fast let alone a rm125 (no offense) but you shouldve got a yz

and atvmxrider dirtbikes do hit the ground more than quads BUT wrecks on a quad hurt 10x's more than on a dirtbike

Actually, with experience of course, cr125s seem like the quicker of them. my buddys 95 yz80 was so boggy and undreppowered.. but thats what i am remembering from like 4 of 5 years ago. But yes, a 125 with that set up would put a 400ex in its place..

ok. this bike is a 2003 rm125. it has the 134 kit,tag handlebars, pro action suspension, graphics kit, twin air air filter, and a dep pipe and silencer. and i did not suck on quads its just the quads are to damn slow and this rm125 totally smokes the 400ex i had.

good luck with the bike man personally i think bikes are a hell of alot more fun then fourwheelers...sounds like a really good deal too around here you can pick up a 01 400 for like $2000 and an 03 125 modded like that for about $3500 so it looks like you made the right trade;)

Well I went from a 1999 KX 125 with a FMF pipe and silencer, boysesen rad vlave and pro-action porting to a Raptor, and I will tell you that thing rippped. Any 125 will stomp a 400ex, untill things get slippery. In a drag race with a banshee that had port@polish, FMF pipes and sils, 34mm carbs, Rad valves Clamp on K/N's, cool head and tommey radiator, that thing would sit side by side until the banshee hit 6th. I need another bike. I miss it:rolleyes: :eek2:

I was thinking of doing the same thing. The 400ex definitly needs alot of engine mods just to compete with anything.

im really happy with my trade. i had never even rode a dirtbike before but im already used to it. this thing is so much faster than the 400. and (no offense to the quad riders) i think that the dirtbikes are alot more fun than the 4 wheelers. there a blast to ride.

Dirtbikes definitely seem to be the way to go. I rode an RM250 today and couldn't believe how fast it was. I literally could not keep the front end down on the beach when I really got on the gas (then again, I'm really light). Finally looped a wheelie in 3rd gear and that was enough for me. I'd trade for a dirtbike in a second, just tell me where to sign.

thats a nice rm u got a good trade i think , i dont blame you for switching to a bike if i didnt have so much time and money invested in quads id have a 04 crf 250 and just ride for fun there so much cheaper, so much more bang for your buck, you do hit the ground more and your bike should hand most 400exs there ***

as for bikes and quads being faster on the track, depending on the track i can beat a bike rider a class above me but on some of the rougher tracks where quad needs a smoother run i cant do the same jumps so the bike is faster

bikes dont suck and vice versa.....

i dont get how t could smoke you 400ex....on my 450r i have beaten crf450's, ktm 400exc's cr 250's, crf 250's and so on of course the 450 would smoke a 400 but still........

There is no way in hell that a trx450 will beat crf450 bike with equal riders so stop talking out of your ***:rolleyes: .

Took the words right out of my mouth. Theres no way a 450r is going to hand a cr250 its ***. Or a crf450 (cr250, crf450, bout the same power). with my, sold now, 2000 cr250 the only thing i got beat by was a 92 yz250, and my bike blew up the next day..:rolleyes:

Thats cool man, Do u know who did the motor work on the BIke, ANd what kinda piston and rod and stuff was put back into it?? Any ways, dirtbikes are usally quicker than quads for the most part. But i hope this thing works out for u, The only problem i see u having is that this RM is gona take alot more maintence than the 400ex ever thought about, And when this motor starts to mess up its gona go quick!!!!!!!


Anyways man get ahold of me, or tell your sister to, and we need to set a date to go riding!
