yes i did-i think i will make some more and sell them-this is a bolt on kit-if i wanted to go back to the 300ex a arms i could with no problem-just unbolt and reuse the stock suspension.

I want a newer quad with more avalibale mods and I really like the 400ex but it is a newer quad and I cant find them for cheap...so i was wondering how much better the 300 handles with the new front on it? If it works good i would get a older 300ex by this summer and do what you did.

the stock 300es handled very well but now it handles even better and provides a wider front end and does great on bigger jumps-i would recommend it-plus the 300 has reverse-that is the main reason i have the 300 over the 400-hope this helps!

It does help...I have been looking for a quad under 1500-2000$. If I do get a 300ex I will buy one of those mounting brakets from you :D .....and what tires do you have? If I do get a 300ex I will probably give my quad to my little bro so I will have a riding partner. My parents are going ot be buying "prbably" over 150 acres in east Texas in between Lake Palestine and Tyler. So I need someone else to ride with. you can pick up stock 400ex from a-arms and shocks from ebay for pretty cheap right?
oh ya I forgot are you going to get a extended axel for it? Looks like it might need it.
thanks

i bought the shocks for 50 plus shipping and the a arms and tie rods for 100 plus shipping-i found everything from the ex riders forum-right now i do not plan on a extended axle because the front now matches the back-if i went wider in the rear it would stick out farther than the front- i am running maxxis razors up front and maxxis surtracks in the rear- hope this helps!

I have a dual sport dirtbike that has like 2,500 miles on it and I will sell that for like 1,500$ and look for a good 300ex. Now that I think about it I use my reverse on my quadsport 250 a lot...so when I get my dual sport from ym aunts house this weekend I wil put it in the Houston Chroinical adds and cycle trader. It is in almost pefect condition and has the original tires on it! That are in great condition no less:) .......thaks alot for the info. I should have a 300ex by the summer. Thanks
PS - are your tires good for mud...not bogging or anything just small mudd holes.

the rear tires are great for mud-even deep mud is what they are designed for-i love them-they also fling alot of mud so whoever is behind you look out because they will be covered in mud-the front do bretter good in mud to-they seem to clean themselves out very well-way better than the stock fronts!
SnotMe80 Have u ever had any problems w/ the maxis sur trac tires. like holes or anyhting like that & how u like them ?I am thinking about buying a set its either those or pure sport realtors Thanx

I was told that a 400 axle will fit in a 300. I think you can use all of the stock parts, i.e. carrier, sprocket hub, rotor hub etc. and the 300 hubs are the same as a 400. I my be cheaper to this, then to buy a new aftermarket axle. my 300 is get the parts from my 400 someday. Have to get arms and axle for it first.:devil

the tires have held up great-i have them slimed so i have not had a problem with holes or anything! i do jump very big jumps with my quad-that is why i upgraded from the 300 suspension to the 400 suspension-the bolts are grade eight bolts and the bracket is solid-it can be welded on if you wanted a little more piece of mind but it is not required-if you think about it your shocks are only held on with one bolt on each end and how many times do those break-never-my bracket is held on with four grade eight bolts and no problems have apeared at all! hope this helps!
thanks
Rob
VERY NICE! if you did make these brackets about how much would it be?

i have gotten alot of emails of people wanting them-i would take 159.00 for them-this includes shipping-painting and all hardware to put it on-plus closw up pictures of mine to show how to bolt on-all you would have to do is remove your old shocks and a arms and find yourself some 400ex donor shocks and a arms-bolt them on and drill four holes in your frame and bolt my kit up-this all can be done in about 4-5 hours. let me know if interested! thanks

i have a 91 250x and was wondering how the bolt on kit holds up against a day at the motocross track with the stock suspension I can easily jump the 50ft table top and the landing is still soft. By the way the the kit looks great check out these pics at my site

i have not had any problems with this kit-light weight-looks stock-performs great-local track tested-does fine on the jumps-the 400ex suspension is so much smoother than the 300-highly recommend doing this conversion-whether you make your own or buy mine-it is worth looking into.
thanks

And to top it all off, a set of 2001 400ex Shocks, A-arms, and Tie Rods for the low low price of 190 dollars!!! And remember, I gots a pair of red shockwears I'll let go for $10!
dgerdes@fidnet.com for pics and info
That's a good job snot, real good job. I was a little curious myself about how those would hold up on big jumps.. the stock mount is right on the frame but those stick out a ways. Maybe in the future, to make them even sturdier, pull them in a little closer and maybe weld on a little gusset. Just food for thought..
Might want to take a scrub brush to that engine too:D Mine was gettin to look like that and I decided to clean it up. Looked alot better..

i think you should make a support from the part of the shoc mounts(on the conversion mounts) that stick out that bolts in to the stock 300 shoc mounts. i think it would add more stenght expesaly when going big

SINCE YOU HAD TO MOVE THE SHOCK MOUNTS UP THE FRAME , DO YOU GET ANY INCREASED SHOCK TRAVEL OR IS IT ABOUT THE SAME........... AND DOES THIS EFFECT HOW THE PLASTIC GOES ON........ THANKS LOOKS GREAT JTH

a stock 400ex axle will NOT fit on a 300ex the space that goes in the axle carrier is longer on the 400ex than the 300ex. we tried this with a 250r axle in my friends 300 and it didnt work. the 250r and 400ex have the same size axle
i think it has about 2" more travel

im thinking if you have the same angle of the shock as on a 400ex youll be good and i dont know if that way will hold up to normal riding let alone motocross! throw some gusets in there and maybe.... my .02

with those 400ex shock mounts on the 300ex, could you put aftermarket shocks on it. Like some works or elkas.

Have you noticed a loss off turning radius with your new a-arms. I have a similar set-up and my tierods will hit my a-arms. They also don't turn as far as the stockers.
SnotMe80
04-29-2002, 09:56 PM
i can turn just as tight as turns as i did before and i do not have a problem with the tie rods at all-the only thing i have noticed is it is a little harder to turn when going fast-otherwise no problems and i have gotten use to it-i have had friends ride and they love it compared to there stock 300 suspension-this truyly makes it feel like you are ridind a cadilac instead of a pickup truck. i will take new pictures of my new setup-i changed the old ones a bit.
thanks
