I already did a search on here but I couldnt come up with much. My friend has a cbr600 that he's going to part out. I could probably get the motor and everything for next to nothing. I want to fabricate this into a quad frame. Does anybody have experience in doing this or know of imformational sites to help me?

It's been done. Try looking in some old DW's since they had an article on it.

Im just wondering if there is a way to use a 400ex frame without cutting it in half and just fabricating the top frame rails. What else has to be done to line up the sprockets?<-(main concern) Is it possible to use a stock header and make the rest of the exhaust? It all really doesnt sound too hard just time.

here's a 250R frame with CBR600 engine built for drag racing. I don't know much about it, saw it at a swap meet for sale.

the guy said it gets a little squirrely around 100MPH so he put on a steering dampner and that helped a little.

I think it would be more time cunsuming than anything. If you get a frame that is big enough, probably like a 400ex frame the motor would fit, you would need to line up the sprokets, make new motor mounts, and do something about the air box, and the tube going to the carberator, and the exaust would probably have to be custom made.

Thanks for the input im going to my friends tomarrow to take apart his bike. Ill take some measurments of the motor and my 400 frame. Ill have to see what has to be one with the swing arm bolt where the motor should be. (I probably wont use my current frame) Im going to buy a roller and lt500s are hard to come by.

That thing must haul!!!! Thanks for posting those. Ive never seen the lt500 frame upclose, Is the only part of the frame you changed the top rails to allow for hieght and how was the swing arm done?

The top tube is just that a single tube. I cut it and make a bolt in I-beam to replace the cut top tube section. The bottom frame tubes must be fabricated to fit around the bottom of the motor. I add 1x1 angle where they meet at the rear. The swing-arm is an extended lt-500 from Lone Star. The cbr 600 is nearly identical diminsionaly to the 900.

My mechanic has an lt 250r with a suzuki 11??cc engine in it. He also has a 1400cc engine that he can switch with. His latest project is a 250r with a kawasaki 636. They are both pretty sick bikes, and I hear it is an awesome to see them run.

I love the way that LT500 looks with the flat black plastic and tthose lights in the front. Very sinister looking. Awesome!
