my friend is going to be buying a 400ex. hes 15 and about 5"7 135lbs.. he never rode a dirtbike or atv. do you think he'd learn to shift and would be able to handle a 400ex? i dont think he'd killhimself, cuz the 400ex stock isnt very 'powerful'. thanks:macho

If he has never rode a quad or bike before he might be in for a rude awakening.:huh For 15 years old, he doesn't sound like a big guy, so the 400 might be a bit much for him.

As long as he don't act like a turd, he should be ok....although it might be too much too quick for him....JMO though.

i had a 300 utility when I was 14 then got the 400ex when I was 15 & about that size & learned how to drive a clutch too from it...he should be fine.

Find a super cheap blaster for him to learn on. Just don't let him get hooked on modifing it, it's addicting, so many possibilities!

After he's got the clutch and everything down pat tell him to go buy a brand new 400ex.

probably not the best beginner quad although they're really easy quads to ride. The power is alot for a beginner. When they first came out people around here used to call them 400ER's (ER=Emergency Room)because it seemed like everybody was getting hurt on them
