Just curious if anyone has a stock displacement high compression piston and a XR 400 cam (or something similar). I would like to do these mods soon and really dont want to mess with boring etc... I would appreciate a description on how this compares to a 406, 416 Etc.. Please post performance gains and such

I've got a stock bore JE 10.5:1, and XR cam sitting downstairs waiting to go in..

The quad is apart right now (frame, etc.. out for powdercoating)..

and I _finally_ took the motor apart (I've had the parts for months :D)..

I'll be sure to post the results when I get it back together..

I'm expecting gains close to a 416... The extra power comes from the higher compresssion / cam.. I can't imagine the 16cc's makes a signifigant amount of difference..

Awfull thing to rip apart a new bike, but I couldn't help myself ;)

leo u will be really happy... i don't think the differnce bettween 400 406 and 416 can be that much either...

I have an XR cam with the stock piston. It's a great combo. The XR cam has a lot more mid-top pull than the EX cam. I think with a high compression piston that I'd go with a little more roudy with the cam though. Maybe a Gt Thunder or the HRC cam.

Thanks for the info guys. I also couldnt see 16cc's being that much of a difference. I was also looking to save some loot also. Anyone else with this combo? Also, does Marcums sell the stock bore high comp. piston in a kit with the xr 400 cam? Do you think I should get a more aggressive cam with this mod?

Actually the je 416 piston also has a higher compression ratio,,,its 10.8:1 and is .80 thousands over.
