Front shock settings ?

I know this is the wrong forum but theres more people here. Anyways, on a 400EX front shock has the 1 through 5 settings (1 being the softest) and mine came on the #4 setting. I always liked the way it handled on the trails but I wanted to try a different one. I set it on #1 and it rode a little better but felt different on the trails. It didn't handle as well. What setting is yours at and IYO which setting makes it handle best for trails?

well try two or three ,i would try two first

If you just lowered the front preload and left the rear on the stock settings, the quad was unbalanced and you most likely had to fight it through the corners.
