well...im not sure which forum to put this in so im putting it here. what are the benefits of running a 8" rim with 18" tires then running a 9" rim with 18" tires. i know about sidewall flex but does it really matter that much? i like the way 9 and 18 looks:)

I think you are right about the sidewall, however, another benefit may be the weight difference between the aluminum and the rubber. The rubber may weigh a tad more than the aluminum.

so are you saying that the 9" and 18" would be lighter?

a larger sidewall will also give a softer ride

LOL yeah suspension makes a difference. I'm the same way with the looks. I spent a fortune on fullbore front plastic just for looks.:huh I'd go with what you like best.

I also think the 9" rim with 18s would be a little lighter than with the 8". Not positive though.

you would notice the ride quality difference with the 9in/18in combo over the 8in/18in. combo even with aftermarket suspension. ive noticed the 9 inch wheel and 18 inch combo tends to allow for the rim to bend or flat spot easier then the 8 inch rim combo does.

9 in looks better
flame me but its true especially if you have after market suspension not only that it should handle better too less flex

I run a set of 18" MXR's on my stock Honda rims and they have held up thus far.....and they look pretty cool too, I'll admit.:p

But what Pappy said is very true.:o

I'm thinking the 9" wheel combo may weigh a bit less than the 8" combo. Pappy is probably right about flat spotting the 9's. A tire with 3 to 4 lbs of air can only do so much.....

isnt that what they make aftermarket rims for....

while on the subject what is a good looking strong rim that wont flat spot easy or bend

get a reinforced rim...one with a ring welded in and it should provide you with peace of mind

supposedly its suppose to weigh less helping in unsprung weight but meh... I got it cuz it looks better and because it would fit the tires I already had for my stock rims.

my hipers have held up great.
