What can I use on my chain on my 450R to get the old stuff off? Some people told me to use WD40, but id think that would harm the o-rings. Any thoughts?
Thanks

No it will not harm the o-rings, been using it or anything like it for years. The only chain that kinda needs a chain lube is a non o-rin, which I still only use WD. Using chain lube on an o-ring chain is kinda pointless in my opinion, you know how hard it is to put on a masterlink think how hard it is for that gunk to get in past the o-rings? Plus collecting grime. There is grease inside every link pin, and the WD keeps surface rust off and dries out the water from washing.

i put it up on a stand.......spin tires/spray chain with WD40. then after a few minutes of it soaking wipe it off with a towel.

I clean my chain of rust and then i put it up on a stand and leave it running in fist gear and i spray the chain w/ chain wax. its great. it prrevents it from getting rusted and its not messy at all

Use diesel fuel. Get a bucket about half full and let your chain soak in it for a while. If it doesnt get all the way clean, which it should, use a tooth brush or something.
