i really dont see the point of a 650 because you cant race is gncc or gnc(if im correct they both have to be under 450ccs)......and how much is it going to cost if a 450r is 6500...?

I don't know.. I was told this quad won a local desert race in the west by one hr.. That doesn't matter. Honda won the Baja, so what... But to Honda it makes for a nice commercial and they can pat themselves on the back. The race was probably like the Baja where Honda puts top national guys against top local pros.. A local pro and natonal pro's just don't belong in the same sentence..

That's all I know. I was told how awsome the suspension was. I have a hard time believing the 650 would be better then the 450. You don't put more money into R&D for a quads suspension that won't even touch the sales of the 450r.. Maybe Honda is setting it up like a DS so it can run the dunes and soak up the terrain the desert races dish out at high speed.. I have no idea..

Right place right time. The source is believable....... but, ya just never know. I wouldn't post this if in 40 days max,,,,we don't know something or see it in dealerships. I wouldn't post info if I thought it wasn't true or my source was a flake.. Eichner rides out west and rides a 450r.. I'll bet he knows alot about it anyway..

I would really like to see one of these. They did have a prototype, but more then likely it was a custom built setup to race the Baja style stuff and not a Honda prototype.

umm..did u not notice thats a photoshopped pic..its been around the boards for awhile..hah...and i doubt if they made a 650 it would be kickstart. :eek: lol...if its setup for woods or dune..theres prob not the problem of weight..so..ah it all depends i suppose..but yeah that pic is photoshopped..notice the air cooled motor and the rads still there...hah i'd like to see a real pic if this thing is real though :)

That looks like trash, IT looks like a XR motor in a 450r with a messed up front end!, Anyways i dont think honda will come out with that quad, But if they could make one that would be awsome!!!!!

Honda's xr650 motor is one bad-*** mofo. If they put it in a 450 style frame I'd buy it over a 450. If it's in the same form as the bike motor 55hp with nothing more then removing a couple of restrictors and a rejet.

Pluss it's one of the most reliable honda motors ever made, went over 150 hours on the dyno wide open without blowing up.

Are you guys sure you just didn't hear about Carmen Cafro's 650ex that he custom built? He raced it for the frist time I think at the last baja 500 and did fairly well on it. Alot of people thought it was from factory Honda, but its not.


I believe this is his bike, if not, it is nearly identical.

I saw an add in atv sport magazine, and they had a thing in there on the 650 baha racer. It was Carmen Cafro's Roll/Honda XR650. The XR650 liquid cooled engine in a 400ex frame.

It was a desert race in southern Nevada not to long ago. Might have even been last weekend..
