Can someone help me,my computer is acting a little wierd and I keep getting pop-ups saying i have a thing called spyware.can someone tell me how to get rid of it?Is there a free program I can use to ged rid of it?it really needs to be free because my mom is cheap as hell and I dont have a credit card.

Download the latest Ad-Aware ... I have and it helps , but I have to run it everytime i turn my computer on .

Just as an update. I downloaded this new Ad-Aware SE Personal. I then ran my older Ad-Aware 6.0 with the latest definitions and it didn't find anything. I installed the new SE Personal version and it found 10 new objects.

thanks i downloaded it and so far i have 400 "critical objects" or whatever,I dont think that is good.I had this porno thing that would pop up everytime i came on and you counld not close it at all,and now its gone.thanks.BTW what are the "critical objects" and what exactly is spyware?

Damn dude, you're a prime example of how not to protect your PC online:D Spyware is basically bits of software that plants itself on your PC without you knowing it. It then relays information back to its originator on what websites you visit, triggers pop-up advertisements, etc.

From now on check for updates weekly and run this program. Should keep you pretty clean. I'm a little paranoid but everytime I game online or go to some of these websites that offer free games (like some of the ones people post here) I run Ad-Aware.

just got done scanning, 6500+ critical objects found.thins program cleaned all the crap outta my computer.I reccomend it to anyone.

I thought I was bad with 82 items...and I have not run ad-aware in 4 months!
