NGK BR8ES is a good all around plug to use and 32:1 pre-mix works well. If you run one of the full synthetic oils you can probably get by with 40 or 50:1

Most people I know run either 32:1 or 40:1. Some people get brave and run 50:1 or even as little as 75:1

To be on the safe side, I'd reccomend 32:1.

Just be sure to use a high quality 2 stroke oil. I would also recommend 32:1.

couldn't agree more. i run 110 octane turbo blue with 40:1 amsoil. i went with 40:1 just cause it was easiest to dump half the bottle in a 5 gallon jugs. keeps the inside of the motor looking beautiful and smells awesome.

You can take the numbers off the carb then go to:
www.keihin-us.com/index

there is an area where you can input those numbers and it will tell you what you have

Forget that idea I can't find it on there now. I know there was an area to do that cause I did it to find the size of my carb
Oh well I tried

its a 34mm fyi

Thanks,I think you hit the nail on the head.

It has a PJ stamped on it and I went to the site that 1988r posted and went to the pj carb specs and I just measured every thing and it all matches the 34mm dimentions listed on that site.
Only thing that gets me is the slide measured at 36mm.

Next question is is this a decent carb for the 250r?

ehh after 14-16 years the carb tends to get worn. ever with a rebuild they just lose "newness" and dont become as reliable or stay in tune as well. luckily mine isnt doing that but i have a 36 mm airstryker that i can put on if need be. after 15 years though carb advancemnt has come along way and a newer carb would bring things up to speed in fuel delivery especially with a port or other engine flow parts. if you mostly ride woods or stay in the low to mid range then i reccomend a 34-36 mm carb. now if you do msotly a high end riding a larger carb would help. see with a larger carb you lose your air velocity so throttle response suffers. with a smaller carb the air has more velocity in it so it has a quicker reaction time from the push of the throttle to revving. you might want to look at i think its a 98 cr 250 carb is a cheaper replacement but im not 100% let me call my engine builder to see........ :macho if you have any other questions about a R just pm me and i will be glad to assist ya!

You would want to get the stock carb off of a 2000 CR250. That year it came with a 38mm PWK with NO electronics.

After that Honda made the switch to a Mikuni TMX and some people have trouble setting them up correctly.

ok this doesnt have to do do with carbs or premix ratio or anything but i was curious if a swinger off an 86 atc 250r will work on a 1989 250r frame.. and what about the motor mounts they changed in 88 and 89.. on the 86-87 they had the mounts on the swing arm bolt but changed it.... im just curious because im building a 250r and my last peice is the frame lol i can get an 89 frame but if it wont work with my swinger i dont wanna waste 350 bucks ya know?

thanks Joe

the easiest thig to do is get a frame/swinger of the same year but I believe an 88-89 frame w/86-87 swinger will work as long as you get/make a space to go inbetween the center to keep the bearings/caps in place.if you have the mounts for an 86-87 (engine that is) and cut the ears off it should work fine, then by all means get the frame. If you don't want no fab work and already have a 86-87 swinger then waite for an 86-87 frame ,their more common then an 88-89 frame
