im trying to decide what type of car i want to build what do you guys think. im gonna go import on this just cause of gas costs and im in the process of building a 36 ford truck also. so what do you guys think. i found a rx7 that needs motor work for 4k and a supra that needs some body and motor work for 4900.00 so what do you guys think

i wanna keep it import on this one not v-8's either rear wheel or all wheel im just thinking of peoples opinions. i dont wanna spend a lot of money on the car just to buy it. it is gonna be a long project that gets modded costantly here the list i have so far of cars that fio what im looking for somewhat. oh yea i want it to be turbo also

240sx(turbo swap)
300zx tt
supra
rx7 3rd gen
3000gt vr-4
galant vr-4(if i could find one)
eclipse/talon gsx/tsi

If you are thinking about an RX-7 just remember they have the rotary engine. I only bring this up because you just can't get anyone to build one up. I don't know what your abilities are but I have been told that rebuilding a rotary engine is not easy and very expensive. Just wanted to throw that in there. I say go for an older eagle talon and throw a huge turbo in it. There is a great article on this in Hot Rod Magazine about a guy that did the same thing. Only has a couple grand into the car and if I remember right he is running a sub 11 second 1/4 mile. What ever you choose they are all pretty sweet cars for a project.

buy something, leave it stock, trust me you will enjoy it more. once you start modding anything you loose reliability and gas milage. the 4 cyl will be good on gass but once you build it or go NA your gas drops right down there with the v8's. plus you waste a lot of money into a car that you will never get out. just find a nice comfortable car and leave it alone, you will be happier in the long run. and why does it have to be turbo?

Rx7's are cool cars, but expensive and very tempramental once you start modifing them. DSM's are fairly cheap, easily modified, and have a huge aftermarket following. A couple guys I work with have turbo talons (eclipse basically) and those things are quick and look good doing it. Thats the route I would go personally. Even if you leave it stock, or fairly stock, you'll still have a fast, and economical car.

i think what im going to do is get a 91-94 dsm (eclipse talon) awd and just mod it. i could have got a 96 awd with another turbo had a front mount blow off etc. from my cousin for 3g's neede a few small things but i didnt have the money and he just recently sold it. so im kicking myself now.

If it's going to be a daily driver, leave it stock and enjoy the ride. Spend the $4 or 5 K on a "regular" car and get a better car. I'm speaking from hind sight.... its always 20/20! :)

just watch for crank walk, and the driveline problems, they make good power but will break everytime you take them for a drive. i would build a classic, and not a trendy import, remember you can only polish a terd so much.

there are more than 8 skylines in the states i have senn prolly 3-4 so if theres only 8 they must be mostly on the east coast ive only seen 2 while driving the other 2 in shows there is a company that imports them that has like 20. anything from non turbo rear wheel drive to awd tt gtr's gts's that are rear whell drive with a smaller motor than the gtr but are still turbo. there are many different configurations. r32 33 34 etc. im not really looking at miatas i dont know just something about thm i dont like

I know it wasnt in the list....but if you want something you can redo and it will be quick...i would go with a 2nd gen RX7 either a Turbo II or just buy a turbo for it...or depending on funds....get a GReddy TT kit for it ;)

na if i was gonna get a rotary i would get the 3rd gen just because it looks so much better than the previous ones. i dont think i want to deal with a rotary though so i think im just gonna go with the 1g eclipse/talon awd
