I have a problem when I race my bike either pops out of gear in 1st or 2nd when I race. i thought it might be a an adjustment of the clutch but everything seems fine. I have a friend with a 04 400ex and he started to have the same problem but only in 2nd.
Any advise??????????????????

SOUNDS LIKE IT COULD BE BENT A SHIFT FORK, OR ROUNDED GEAR DOGS.

Do you know of anyone to have the same problem by chance?

YEAH I WORKED ON A KIDS QUAD AT THE SHOP THAT WAS DOING THAT AND IT ENDED UP BEING BENT AND WORN SHIFT FORKS, AND WORN TRANNY GEARS.

I TYPE IN caps BECAUSE THAT MY STYLE.

Hello, when it pops out of gear, does it go into neutral or another gear? If I don't shift fully into a gear, mine will sometimes shift itself into neutral. My neighbor has the same problem as you, but its because he runs too thick of oil in his warrior. He runs that powerpunch crap STRAIGHT!!! I warned him not to do this, but he says that what everyone should run, and his dad will only lets him run that crap. I don't think that is very good, since it is so thick, eventually, his valves will go out, from racing his engine cold!! Also, it has blown out his oil filter, but he doesn't see that as a good sign to stop using it. What oil are you using? I doubt the shift fork is bent, unless you don't use your clutch when shifting when you are really on the pipe.

FYI: I think a few people find that using caps excessively is in a way offensive. IMHO, caps is like a way of yelling through written text.

IT MAKES YOU LOOK LIKE A RETARDED KID WHO CAN'T CONTROL THE VOLUME OF HIS VOICE, BUT IT'S THROUGH TEXT.

But I do have to agree with you, it could be your shift forks are bent...that's usually a common problem if it shifts out of gear while you're racing, a friend of mine had that happen to his Blaster...but it's probably just because it's a pile.

It's possible that your hitting the shifter with your foot just enough to pop it out of gear. I had the same problem and adjusted the shift lever, that helped a great deal.

I highly doubt there are any tranny problems with a 7 mo. old quad.

I use the synthetic honda oil. I hve noticed that my shift lever has rubbed the case a few times. I do use the clutch when I race. It always pops into neutral. before i race I release the clutch to see if it is in gear .

Thanks for the F.Y.I.
