thats a new one on me man its gotta be for some kinda air but it looks like a damn oil filter they are useing to filter air for some reason

It looks like it is the hose that is coming up from the 3-way breather tube. Stock, it is just the piece of plastic that jams into the air filter. Maybe its pushing more air through that way.

it is a case vent. on a stock filter the hose is against the filter. if you get a k&n or similar filter, you have to rig something up for the vent. i just put a piece of foam in my hose and ran a small screw through it to hold it.

Its a filter for the crankcase breather, normally hose just terminates inside airbox, but with lid modified it would catch a lot more dirt, dust, etc.
