swingarm chain adj. problem

i went to adjust my chain the other day and i noticed that when i loosened them they were kind of hard to turn. After adjusting the chain, i started to tighten them up, and ended up breakin one of the bolts off, and the other one i took out, and saw that it had quite a bit of the treads in it. So my dad suggested drilling the two holes out and put a 10 or 8mm bolt and nut in their place. Anyone know if this is a bad idea or not.

just drill a hole a little bit smaller than the bolt and drill through, then the remains will be easy to get out. But yeah, u could also just put a new bolt through with a nut...
