I was thinking about this today, and I bet more people in the US watch the X-Games than the Olympics...

Honest question. Did I miss the olympics this year? I thought that wasn't for a while still. Lol. This is how I am during baseball season when the world series comes and goes.

I'm still not sure I quite understand the Olympics. All this running, swimming, jumping, etc.....just wears me out thinking about it. Heck, I'm ready for beer...who's ready?!

Olympics are cool, assuming we own everyone who shows up. If we can't win, Go Germany!

X-Games rule, oylimpics suck. So what if some guy can jump over a tall bar with a stick, can he jump over a bar twice the hight on a 250 pound dirtbike?

which we hardly do..

we need a team of NBA superstars to compete with the rest of the world..and even they are struggling.

Id much rather watch the X Games than the Olympics, even if the US managed to dominate every event. Just not very appealing, plus I can relate to the X Games. I like to see racing and freestyle...I dont care to see how fast a person can run. But thats me. :p

If you are an athlete competing at high leval's, you would understand the olimpics better. I play hockey, and one of the highest levals (been offered scholarships to many prep-schools), but I have turned them down to my MX racing. I know that when it comes time for college, my hockey will get me in over my grades, and motocross helps none. For you who say olympics sucks, get a life, you just say that cause you are bad at sports.

The difference between the x games and olympics is that most of the events in the x games are spectator sports. Let's face it, its not very fun to watch people run in circles for 10 minutes, throw a lead ball 45 feet, or jump 20 feet into some sand. Don't even get me started on swimming. By the way, is synchronized swimming really a sport?

Wake up people! The olympics are great! The best athletes in the world going against each other. I like watching the summer and winter olympics.

olympics mean jack to me anymore... i use to love them and still do love sume events... i love how they won't air the shooting events anymore either...

all all they do go pump themselves up on steroids and proteins and then goin to the olympics and breakin records is BS!!!!! the records set now are b.s... its not fair anymore all they do is cheat... noones natural anymore and they say the screen but people still get around it...

like mcguire with the home run record and bonds and them... i'd love to see what marris and ruth and all them would have done if they were on creotein, cell tech, etc... its BS!!!!!! i know that isn't olympics just an analogy...

for some reason we send the worst players to represent our coumntry....the only ones that NEED to be there are Iverson and Duncan

I agree. I used to run, throw, and jump in high school track. But the fan base was never there... even at the state competitions. They just aren't exciting sports to watch. I like to hear about how events went, but I really don't want to watch them on tv.

08-11-2004, 09:57 AM
I really injoy the track and field part! though I will not stop what I am doing to watch them like I would for the X-games.

The Olympics are more than just a sporting event, it is a world tradition that is carried on every 4 years. The best athletes in the world compete head-to-head with other athletes. IMO, the Olympics are pretty damn cool. I would agree that watching like the 8 mile race is pretty damn boring, but the sprint events, most field events, along with other events are pretty cool to watch b/c they are the best in the world.

But, the X Games still kick *****:macho

I agree, The X Games are great! I watch the olympics too, not all of them, just the exciting events.
Most of the time I miss both because I dont watch much TV and forget they are on.
When I remember and turn on the TV, I always hear the announcer say:
" WOW, That was amazing! This one is going down in history! Thats all tonight, join us tommorow for underwater basket weaving!"

And Im like:(

Yes, because the hard working amateurs arent as good as Iverson. Its about being the best team they can be, not about being nice and letting people that arent as good get a chance.

And can the dirtbike rider jump over a tall bar with a stick? It goes both ways. Just because the Olympics may not appeal to you doesn't make an Olympic athlete any less extraordinary. And for future reference FontMaster, it's "Olympics" not "Oylimpics".

Personally, I prefer the Winter Olympics... particularly the snowboarding events.
