400ex shocks on a 450r

i just bought a pair of elka shocks for my 400 ex. they cant be more then 2 months old. a friend is selling his 450r for cheap. will the shocks from my 400 fit the 450r or am i going to have to get new ones?

They will fit but will need a revalve and respring.

We have tried this without good results. THe 400ex shocks are 1/4 shorter than the 450 shocks which does not sound like much but it cuases the front end to sit really low and limits the up travel in the a-arm and shocks.
