250x starting woes..

Hey guys, my buddy has a 91 250x and has been having some trouble starting it. He says some days he will kick the thing for hours and it will not start....the next day or so he will go out and kick it once and it will start right up like a Honda should. Anyone got any ideas what he should look at?? He says he has put a new plug in it, and checked the spark when it's not starting..

Tell him to check the CDI box (black box). I had a 92 250x and had the same problem when I first bought it. I could tap on the CDI box and it would sometimes start when I tried kicking it over. I ended up buying a stock CDI box from the honda dealership, but just tell him to order a higher revving one if that is what he needs.
