im looking to make my 300 a lot wider. can i put 400ex a-arms and axle on it so its really wide?

The geometery between the bikes is different so you will get some bad handling effects. Keep reading, it is explained in detail in most of those threads.

Buy some burgard +3 a-arms and elka's, it is one of the best set-ups for a 300ex...

the a-arms work good cause you are alot wider even if you lose a little handling a good rider can work it no problem.

And sorry but there is no way you can put a 400 axle on cause the 400's bearing carrier is wider then yours it.
