View Full Version : Best slip-on for 400ex

04-03-2002, 08:56 PM
I am looking for a new pipe for my new 400ex. I was mainly just looking at slip-on pipes. What is the best performance wise pipe for the 400ex? I was looking at the White Brothers e-series, procircuit T-4, Big Gun, yoshimura, and fmf megamax 2.
Any feedback is appreciated, Thanks!!!

I've heard a lot about HMF pipes. They're supposed to be one of the best.

I would go with a TC Pipe. It is a all out Racing Pipe. You will like it a lot.

Who makes the TC pipe?

It is a SuperTrapp Pipe Modified by TC Racing. He does his Mods to let it Flow More.

That's a joke right? Anyways, I love my HMF pipe and they are really cheap compared to alot of the other pipes. Just incase you weren't joking the TC pipe is made by TC. They are a racing company.

Not you, the other guy.

i have the T-4 it looks sweat and sounds mean plus all of the slip-on pipes are gonna give a stock engine about the same results.
go with what you like

OK. Yeah I would get the TC Pipe.

Depends on how much you want to spend. The engine builder pipes, like TC, are more expensive. I would just go with HMF unless noise is an issue.

The big guns add some nice gains. You should consider one of those.

Just about all the Pipes Add more Power. I just think the Engine Builders Pipes are a little ahead of the Rest.

He is Correct. The only Big Difference is the Sound.

what about the WB e-series? Ive heard a lot of good things about those.

I personally really like the WB E-Series. You can check out my review/install guide on my website:

http://www.measlywimp.com/jason under the ATV section.

Although, I believe alot of it is just personal preference.

Good luck,
Jason.

I'm not impressed with the E series. My fried bought the e series when i bought my t-4 and it doesnt seem to help him out at all. it is way quieter than mine and the discs suck. its also prone to cracking at the welds and if you do really big jumps the swingarm will come up and put a nice dent in it for you. if you get a white bros get the r6

My fried bought the e series when i bought my t-4 and it doesnt seem to help him out at all. it is way quieter than mine and the discs suck.

I'll personally attest that the E-Series adds torque/hp, and the dynos show it too. Not sure why your friend didn't get any benefit.

As far as the discs sucking...I'm not sure how DOD determined that? I personally like the discs, gives me a little flexibility in tuning. Plus I didn't get the pipe to make it noisy, I got it for performance, but some people would just soon sacrifice power to increase their noise, that's just their preference, fine with me.

If you don't like the discs, they make a model of the E-Series that doesn't have the discs. I think they call it the power core insert or something like that...you can check it out at their website.

As far as the swing arm dent, the swing arm didn't put that dent on the pipe. It comes shaped that way from the manufacturer in order to prevent the brake caliper from hitting the pipe.

Another option as DOD mentioned, is the WB R4, which is more of a straight pipe for those who want it extra noisy.

Either way, you'll probably like whatever you buy, and you'll most likely be on here bragging whatever pipe you choose, just like myself and the rest.

Good luck,
Jason.

u must not jump very aggressive because I know it comes with an indenture from the factory but this dent i'm speaking of lines right up with the swingarm. Anyway it doesnt matter I was just trying to help

Get the Yoshimura, They give excellent power and a nice sound.

04-09-2002, 01:20 PM
i've heard that too FOX but I've never seen one before.

04-09-2002, 01:26 PM
how does the yoshimura perform? sound/performance?

ChadEXer
04-09-2002, 02:22 PM
the Yosh sounds better than the WB and performs damned good. I had it on my previous 416. it made a HUGE difference over the Big Gun I had on it before
but I have had an engine builder tell me that the WB performs better than any other commercially built pipe!!
Get you a engine builders pipe!!!

I would go with the TC Racing Pipe. I really like Mine. When it comes to Sound and Torque, I don`t think there is a better Pipe out there.

I would definitly agree that an engine builders pipe is the way to go. If you are looking for a full setup, and want another company t o check out, then go to this website, www.duncanracing.com

Their new Fat boy exhaust is awesome. Duncan Racing has got the pipe to beat in my opinion. They have years of four stroke engine building, and know their stuff...

Dave400ex
04-13-2002, 09:03 PM

ChadEXer
04-15-2002, 01:31 PM
Somethin like that!!!!
Warriorman Did you say you had to cut your headpipes???

Dave400ex
04-16-2002, 05:48 PM
It`s not a IDS 2. It is a Older Style SuperTrapp but it is better then any of SuperTrapp`s Pipes now. It is Awesome. You have to Cut 5-1/2 Inches off your Header.

Yes the TC Racing Pipes are Loud. Call TC or Rocky Ridge Racing. My TC Pipe was $338 Shipped. TC does not give Ear Plugs although they would be a wise Purchase. I like how mine Sounds.
