Just curious what i could do WITHOUT putting a loud pipe on my z400 to give it some more power. 1st off i planned on pulling the airbox cover replace the stock air filter with a UNI and put a bigger main jet in. What size jet should i go to from the stock (130)???

What other mods could i do without making the quad louder? I live in the city and like to take it for the occasional run down the street ..... :-)

The only REAL way to get power from the Z400 is with a pipe. Pipes really wake up the Z400 engines. The yoshimura pipe with a TEC insert isn't really all that loud.

with a cam, porting and pipe its gonna rip. Do the suspension first, from what I hear the suspension limits the power. I've never ridden one, so can't say first hand.

My first mod was removing the airbox lid and installing a 150 mikuni MJ. Nice power gain, and it ran great.

I later installed a CT pipe and it revs a lot more freely. More power the whole way.

You could install cams/piston ect... But the power will be restricted without an exhaust system.
