is it safe to run without the airbox lid ? I have k & n air filter , with outerwear and have put the 1 " inserts in but still need more air ( power ) !! have seen power lids, but not any for the 450 R.:( I do alot of wood riding, shallow creeks, things of that nature, so that is why I haven't ran without the box cover.

I don't know what to call it but there's a little thing on the bottom of your airbox. A little rubber piece that's held on by a clamp. If you check it out you'll see what I'm talking about. If you take that off there will be a hole in the bottom of your air box which will let any water that gets in there to drain out so you won't have to worry about it. It'll help stop water from flooding your engine out because it won't sit in your airbox.

Just take it easy going through the water. The prefilter is water repellent which means the water should just run off it. but watch going through huge puddles.

Try cutting a big hole in your lid, then staple an outerwears airbox cover to the inside of your lid. It should open the airbox up better ( it will allow way more air than the inserts) and keep you safe at the same time.

i take it i shouldnt cut a hole in the lid if i run it completely under the water sometimes through pretty deep areas huh?

Get the HRC lid and a $20 450R Outerwears air box lid cover.

I had this combo and it ran better without the lid. I just use the stock filter with an Outerwears prefilter and the Outerwears air box cover and it works great.

Get the ehs lid. I race cross country and have never had a problem. I use a k&n with an outer wears with the ehs lid and have never sucked in water. I also took off the rubber plug on the bottom of the airbox. Ive been in many deep creek crossings and havent had a problem. Ehs has one for the 450r. I just saw it on their web site.
