Thanks but i have a 200$ budget for the engine and swing arm skid  so i was thinking AC raceing.. what do you all think?

the AC skids for the swinger are pretty weak, and i think the AC chassis skid is to weak and is more for track, but i would go with a prm they are very very strong and should fit your budget

Thanks but how thick should I get for the engine skid and swingarm?

.190 swingarm = $89.95

.250 swingarm = $104.95

.125 engine = $89.95

.190 engine $114.95

.190 would be fine for the swing arm skid

and if you ride a lot of rocks/bolders I would get the .190 full chassis skid if not then get the .125.

I have the PRM .190 chassis skid and .250 z-plate on my 400 and they still look brand new. I would get them again for sure.

Is the .190 swingarm for $89.95

and

.250 swingarm for $104.95 by PRM pretty much the same or is it worth all the extra money for the .250?

i think the stock swing-arm skid is great,it duznt bend like an alluminum one and wen i hit big rocks it just bounces off. plastic is good :D

I'm using QuadBoss sport skid plate $119.99 and QuadBoss sport swing arm armor $149.99. My local shop ordered them for me along with a 10% discount. I also picked up some QuadBoss shock covers. I like the swing arm skid because it has machined holes under the disc brake which keeps dirt and grit out of the brakes. www.quadboss.com

I am a big believer in the Armadillo for a 400ex. But for a 450r I think you will be disappointed(like me). The part they built to protect the linkage is the weak part, not to mention,it hangs down too low and catches,in my case a log that I've crossed numerous times. The result was an unscheduled (unprepared) trip over the bars. I liked the idea of the stock plastic one, except I junked it after two rides. I am shopping for one and will study the PRM as I find the .250 thickness a must,as well as the rails running the entire length of the skid.

yeah, spend the extra on the .250. I trashed my .190 in 2 months.

I got my armidillio yesterday and all the mounting holes are drilled out wrong over a 1/4'' wrong. where did you buy yours from? I got mine off ebay, some guy that name is track trail and sand. I also waited 20 days for it to get to me.

I ordered my full set straight from PRM and got it in a week. Everything lined up nice and went on quick.
The only issue I had was using the belly plate with the stock bumper. I had to bend the front a little so it "wrapped" around the frame. Other than that, no problems whatsoever. I bashed a few rocks today and there's just a few little marks on the swingarm plate. No gouges or bends.
I'd recommend them to anyone in the market as high quality stuff.
I'll be going to 22" tires in the back for trail riding to give me the extra inch of clearance and the thing should be bulletproof. :macho

I bought an armadillo body skid from him, it was a pretty smooth transaction. I think I had it in about 7 days. I still have a stock swingarm skid though. The only bad thing about the Armadillo is that you have to remove it to change the oil, there isn't a drain hole on the clutch side. Its not a big deal though, just a few allen bolts.

Can someone who owns a armadillo swing arm skid post pics of it mounted on there 450. Armadillo is telling me that there skid mounts up offset. I think mine is cockeyed. Tell me what you guys think of these pics.

as far as protection its prm all the way.
i made the mistake of getting the dg skid plate and it didnt line up for crap and its even a little crooked underneath. i'll be getting the prm one over the winter just for peace of mind. i have the prm .250 z swingarm plate and holy ^%$#% is that thing beefy !! it also lined up perfectly the first time just like the grab bar i have from them. i also have the pro armor a-arm guards just because they looked different.
