What do u guys think, if it were u starting a new project for this winter what would u rather do i mean if u were going to spend over 10000 dollars plus in either of them would it be better to go out and buy a brand new 450r and then just mod it to no end, or would it be a better bike to buy everything aftermarket and build a CRF450 Quad? What do u think the price of building the CRF quad would be from scratch, i have estimiated a 450r at around 12000 dollars to build it the way i want it. thanks

I would go with the crf. Those things are bad.

alright a good quad evrey thing aftermarket chassis with flip top and and all the goodies will run u about 20 grand:eek: but your going to have to wrench on it a helll of alot more more then a production bike;) first wut kind of racing are u wanting to do. Every one is switching to production bikes because thats where all the competion is. if i were u i would build a nasty 450r becuase it will work out better for u in the long run ;)

a CRF quad is very frustrating to build, so if you have twice as much time as you prideicted and lots of patience and money i would go with that! But like 4wheelboy said the trx would be better in the long run, with the production rules now...

I think the crf is faster... But i'm sure its harder to build

416exmx, you have some killer deals on quads, where are you from?

I debated this my self and went with a hybrid.I lucked out and had a 250r here to donate parts to my hybrid so my cost was alot lower than what you would expect.I also modded a Warlock 250r chassis to accept the crf and it wasnt to bad to do either.Good luck desiding

I built a CRF450 about a year ago, and I also purchased a TRX450r a few months back. I did not have as much invested in my crf450 as most people told me I would. However, I had majority of the parts from another 400ex that I needed. I also bought a brand new crf450 dirtbike and removed the motor. I sold the bike frame months later after I knew the project would work. My crf450 has a lonestar frame based on 400ex geometry. It really turned out well. I have not started on the trx, so I cannot compare them yet. I do feel that building the TRX will be easier.

trx is reliable & fast...the CRF is faster but less reliable....
