Anyone tried running a pair of 55w halogens off the stock stator minus the stock headlights?

The manual says the stock system develops 147 watts @ 5k/rpm

The tail light uses 5w - the headlights would be using 110w (vs 60w stock). I just don't remember how much it takes to run the coil & overhead for battery charging.

Hey Gabe,

just the 2 lights alone, is drawing 9.2 amps.

I'm gonna guess to charge the battery, its around 4 amps.

Lights ... 9.2 amps
Overhead ... 4 amps

Thats 13.2 amps right there.

I don't think the coil is much? 1 amp maybe, if that.

Ok with all that said I calculate that drawing 158 Watts.

You said alternator is putting out 147 @ 5k.

Looks like it won't work.:(

Sorry about the fuzzy discription, I was figuring it out while typing.
(ps. if i'm wrong  wont be the first time, its just what I figured out, maybe someone did it and it worked)

Oh ya And i didn't calculate the rear tail light. .erm add 5 watts

If you find out that all other overhead is only 2 amps, then it wil work. Maybe it is:huh
