Electrical problem, I do not see where to post electrical problems so I posted it here.

400ex at Pismo beach this weekend and had a problem, the bike shut down, wont start only starter clicked, pull started ran good then shut down again in a few minutes, did it again same thing, turn the key on the green neutral light is real dim so are lights then they start to get brighter.

Any ideas where to start ?

battery is dead....if a buzzing sound came from right where your left leg should be,then your battery is dead, just charge it up real good

yes I charged it overnight, I will charge it again to see if it starts, if it does I have a different problem.

if not, make sure your connections are all good, and if it isn;t that that it is most likely your start relay

Ok I charged the battery and now when I push the button I hear a sound like the starter going and not grabbing teeth.

IS the starter spinning, and you hear a whizzing sound, or is it not even spinning? I'm sure that the 400ex uses a 1 way, so if the starter is spinning, a gear or the one way is shot.

I cant tell if the starter is spinng, or just a really fast clicking sound.

Put your hand on the starter, and hit the button. Can you feel a slight vibration? If you can, it shoudl be spinning. Or, you can take that cover off, and take out 1 gear, and see if it spins. I think the battery is too weak to turn the motor over, that is why it clicks. Are you sure the starter is clicking? Or is it the cylinoid?
